The Dark Prophecy
Apollo, now mortal and working for a teenager, is ordered west by his enemy Nero, and the instruction is aimed at stopping him from reaching the next oracle.
About
The Dark Prophecy is a fantasy adventure novel by Rick Riordan, published on 2 May 2017 and the second book of The Trials of Apollo, a series based on Greco-Roman mythology. Its narrator is the god Apollo, who is living as a mortal teenager with the powers and appearance of a boy and the memories of a god.
Apollo and Meg McCaffrey go west, following a prophecy that begins with the instruction to capture Apollo before he finds the next oracle. In Indianapolis they find that oracle, a former emperor who runs part of the city's supernatural economy, and a set of demigods and older gods whose loyalties have to be worked out before anything else can be done.
Riordan puts a god who has lost his powers into the position of a young protagonist, so the comic voice of the narrator and the difficulty of being mortal are the same device. The book continues the story towards the remaining oracles, and it keeps the series' habit of treating classical myth as a system that still operates in the modern world.
