Lodestar

Lodestar is a fantasy novel by the American writer Shannon Messenger, published by Aladdin in 2016 and part of the Keeper of the Lost Cities series.

Sophie has returned to the lost cities and found a place she does not quite recognise. The threat of war is over everything, the Neverseen are causing havoc, and Sophie no longer knows which of the people around her can be relied on. When she is warned that the people she loves most will be the next targets, she has to act. The clue she has to work with is a symbol she cannot read, and each new piece of information takes her further into the parts of her world that are not discussed. The Black Swan is not the only group with plans in motion, and if the Neverseen's own initiative is not stopped, they may finally have the means to control her. Sophie has spent years being told what she is, and this is the book where she stops accepting it.
