Legacy (Keeper of the Lost Cities #8)

Legacy is a fantasy novel by the American writer Shannon Messenger, published in 2019. It is the eighth book of the Keeper of the Lost Cities series.

Sophie Foster was raised among humans and discovered as a child that she belongs to a hidden society of elves with abilities she cannot entirely control, and by this point in the series she has been through a great deal of being lied to by the people who claim to protect her. The novel follows her attempts to establish what actually happened in her own past and in the histories of her friends, and the responsibilities that come with each new piece of information. Messenger writes long books with a large cast of young characters, and the series moves between a school, a council that governs the elves and the factions that want to use Sophie for what she can do. The plot of this volume is concerned with the consequences of the discoveries made in the books before it.

The series began in 2012 and has continued well past this volume, with the later books taking the same characters into an open conflict.
