About Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
STAR WARS Jedi: Survivor continues the story of Jedi Cal Kestis as Imperial rule spreads across the galaxy. With BD-1 at his side, Cal searches for allies and a place to resist. The third-person action adventure combines lightsaber and Force combat with traversal, exploration, puzzles and character progression.
Set after the events of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Jedi: Survivor follows Cal Kestis as he continues to resist the Empire’s reach. Cal is a Jedi whose survival has required him to move through a galaxy where Imperial forces and other threats hunt him. The story brings him together again with BD-1, his compact droid companion, and sends him in search of old friends and new allies. The journey centres on the question of how far Cal will go to protect those close to him while the Empire pushes him toward the edges of known space. The narrative is presented through exploration, conversations, combat encounters and cinematic sequences, keeping Cal’s personal relationships alongside the wider conflict.
Koboh is one of the principal places Cal explores. Its regions include arid open terrain, dense vegetation, settlements and ruins that connect to the planet’s history. The planet is not only a sequence of combat arenas: paths branch into optional areas, secrets and items, while environmental obstacles reward returning with abilities or equipment gained later. Force powers also serve practical roles in puzzles and traversal, so examining a route can matter as much as defeating its guards. Cal can use traversal skills, equipment and rideable creatures to cross ground in different ways. These tools expand how he moves through the landscape and allow some creatures to help with navigation or environmental problems.
Combat combines lightsaber stances, Force abilities, dodging, blocking and timed parries. Five stances are available over the course of the adventure: Single, Double-Bladed, Dual Wield, Blaster and Crossguard. Cal can equip two at once and switch between them during a fight, making stance choice a quick tactical decision. Single offers a balanced approach; Double-Bladed handles groups with broad attacks; Dual Wield supports rapid offense; Blaster pairs a sidearm with the saber; and Crossguard favours heavy strikes. Each style has its own attack rhythms and strengths, so changing stance can alter how Cal responds to multiple opponents, ranged pressure or a durable enemy.

The Force adds control options to the weapon system. Push and pull can move objects and enemies, while other abilities let Cal interfere with opponents or use the environment against them. These powers draw on a Force meter, making their use a resource decision during combat. Some enemies resist Force manipulation more effectively than others, and skill upgrades can improve its usefulness. Outside a fight, Force abilities help reveal or manipulate routes through puzzles and obstacles. BD-1 also supports exploration: the droid scans objects and points of interest, and those discoveries contribute to Cal’s experience. The combination means the same exploration loop can uncover lore, solve a physical problem and gradually improve combat capability.
Progression is organised through skill trees for lightsaber stances, Force powers and survival. Cal earns experience from combat and from discoveries such as BD-1 scans and Force Echoes; accumulated experience grants skill points that can be spent to unlock attacks and improve abilities. Each stance has its own skill set, so investing in one develops a distinct combat option, while survival and Force upgrades compete for the same points. Perks add another layer: they are equipped at meditation points, where Cal can also manage skills. Perks occupy slots, and stronger effects may use more than one. Meditation points also serve as places to rest; resting restores Cal and causes defeated enemies in the area to return, creating a choice between recovery and preserving cleared paths.
Exploration also feeds a quieter strand of activity around Rambler’s Reach, a settlement on Koboh. Cal meets local characters and can recruit some of them to join the community. Residents contribute practical services, including repairs, and one recruit can take on the role of DJ. Cal can plant seeds in a garden and develop the town’s garden space, linking discoveries in the surrounding world to a visible place he revisits. These activities sit alongside the main expedition: they give exploration rewards and conversations a home base, while the settlement’s residents make Koboh feel inhabited beyond the enemies Cal encounters in the wild. Between missions, workbenches let him alter the appearance of his lightsaber and BD-1, and customise Cal’s clothing and look, keeping cosmetic expression separate from the skill systems that shape combat.

The skill system allows for correction as Cal’s priorities change. Players can reset spent skill points and redistribute them across stance, Force and survival trees; the first reset costs nothing, while later resets consume a skill point. This makes experimentation part of progression rather than a permanent commitment to one weapon style. The cost also gives each reset a purpose: a player can trade a developed stance for additional Force control or survivability, then rebuild attacks to suit a different mix of combat and exploration. Experience comes from fighting, but the game also awards it for BD-1 scans, certain activities and Force Echoes, tying careful observation of the environment to the same point pool used to improve Cal’s abilities.
