About Spiritfarer: Farewell Edition
As Stella, ferrymaster to the deceased, you build a ship, meet spirits across a sea of islands and care for them on their final voyage. Spiritfarer: Farewell Edition brings together the original management adventure and its three major content updates, including the Jackie & Daria story set around Overbrook and the Mind Palace event.
Spiritfarer casts Stella as the new ferrymaster to the deceased, a role she takes on with her cat Daffodil. Her boat begins as a modest, worn vessel and becomes both home and workshop as she sails between islands, meets spirits and helps them with requests. The passengers have individual histories, habits and preferences; Gwen is among the spirits Stella encounters early in the journey. Their requests lead the route outward, while new conversations and tasks bring the player back to the ship and its residents. The journey’s central progression is tied to helping these characters reach the Everdoor, the passage through which spirits depart. Farewell Edition packages the completed game with the content added after its original release, so its world includes the later spirit stories as part of the same voyage.
The ship is the main management space and the practical engine for exploration. Stella gathers materials while travelling, then uses the blueprint station to place homes and production buildings on the deck. A kitchen turns ingredients into meals, while farming plots and other stations convert gathered inputs into food and crafting materials. Buildings can be upgraded as Stella finds the required resources and plans; the shipyard also provides improvements that let the vessel reach new parts of the map. This creates a steady chain between destinations and construction: islands offer materials or passengers, passenger requests point toward new tasks, and completed work supplies the next improvement. The player moves around the boat to tend its stations, talk with spirits and adjust to a growing roster, making the ship’s layout a working environment rather than a menu screen.
Care for passengers has mechanical effects as well as story consequences. Stella can talk with spirits, give them hugs and prepare meals suited to their tastes. Each spirit has preferences and a mood that can change with food and other conditions; keeping them content can prompt gifts, advice or help with shipboard activities. The passengers also teach Stella how to use certain stations and interact with sea events, so relationships can expand what she can do. Cooking is a small but recurring production loop: ingredients gathered from the world or grown aboard are placed in the kitchen, and dishes then become a way to respond to a passenger’s needs. Each resident reacts differently, so learning their preferences connects daily care to the practical work of running the ferry.

Island visits give Stella a change of pace from the boat’s routines. She explores on foot, gathers items and meets characters who may join the voyage, while the side-scrolling movement includes jumps and abilities that open routes through the environment. Spirits provide Obols that Stella can spend at shrines to learn abilities such as Double Jump, Glide and Zipline. Each changes how she moves through island spaces: Double Jump reaches higher ledges, Glide controls her descent, and Zipline lets her travel along cables. New abilities therefore open paths through obstacles and can reveal additional characters or resources. Sailing also includes events at sea where Stella collects materials through short activities. Back aboard, she can turn those supplies into useful goods, food or ship improvements. The map’s progression comes from combining travel with the abilities and resources gathered along the way.
Farewell Edition includes the original game and three major updates, with Jackie & Daria as the final addition. Jackie is a hyena caretaker at the run-down Overbrook health institute, and Daria is a bat who is one of its patients. Their story brings Stella to Overbrook, where activities include improving conditions for the patients with a mystical vending machine and entering Daria’s Mind Palace for a musical event. These additions are specific to the final update, distinct from the general ship-management activities already present in the base game. The update also adds Overbrook as an island, a beehive station upgrade and new recipes, extending both the places to visit and the production options aboard Stella’s ship. The other content updates add further spirits and events to the same ferrying structure, so the Farewell Edition contains the base voyage and its later additions together.
Several ship stations turn raw materials into components that feed the next construction step. Logs go through the Sawmill to become planks; ore is processed in the Foundry into metal ingots; and fibre passes through the Loom to become thread or fabric. These outputs are used to build or improve other boat structures, so collecting a material on shore can set up several actions aboard the ship. The stations use short minigames as part of making or transforming resources, and their inputs come from different parts of the voyage: trees and mineral deposits on islands, crops from the Field, and materials gathered during sea events. The player can move between stations while the ferry travels, balancing production with passenger conversations and requests. This production chain gives the ship’s workshops a distinct role alongside the garden, kitchen and spirit cabins.
