About METAL GEAR SOLID Δ: SNAKE EATER

As Naked Snake, infiltrate Soviet territory during the Cold War, rescue engineer Sokolov and prevent a nuclear conflict. METAL GEAR SOLID Δ: SNAKE EATER remakes the 2004 story with updated presentation, two control styles, camouflage and survival systems, close-quarters combat, and returning bonus modes.

METAL GEAR SOLID Δ: SNAKE EATER is a full remake of the 2004 METAL GEAR SOLID 3: SNAKE EATER, retelling the same Cold War-era origin story in rebuilt environments. You play Naked Snake, a FOX operative sent alone into Soviet territory during the 1960s. His mission begins with the rescue of weapons engineer Sokolov and develops into a struggle to stop a nuclear conflict between global powers. Snake’s former mentor, The Boss, and KGB operative Eva are among the people who shape the operation; the Cobra Unit and Russian military stand in his way. The remake keeps the original story and characters while rebuilding its presentation and updating some controls. It is a separate Steam release from the older game included in METAL GEAR SOLID: MASTER COLLECTION Vol. 1.

The route runs through jungle, caves, mountains and military outposts, where visibility changes with the terrain. Foliage can hide Snake, but it also limits his view of nearby soldiers; open approaches, narrow paths and guarded structures ask for different movement. You can creep past patrols, crawl through cover, climb or cross exposed ground, and use traps against guards or wildlife. Sound matters because nearby soldiers can hear careless movement and investigate. When an enemy notices something, you can leave the area, break line of sight and find another route, or take the encounter directly. The connected environments carry Snake between stages of the infiltration mission, with each area mixing natural cover and military installations.

Stealth depends on what Snake wears as much as where he moves. Camouflage uniforms and face paint can be changed to suit a jungle, swamp or indoor setting, helping him blend with the surfaces around him. In the remake, a quick-select menu makes it faster to switch patterns while moving between different environments. The over-the-shoulder camera in New Style pairs with contemporary controls and a crouch-walk option, while Legacy Style preserves a top-down viewpoint and controls closer to the original. Close-quarters combat gives Snake options when a guard comes too near: he can grab or throw an opponent, use them as a shield, threaten them for information, or combine a close attack with firearms. The game lets you make a route quietly through camouflage and timing, then respond with CQC when distance closes too quickly.

The jungle also functions as a supply of food and a threat to Snake’s condition. He can hunt animals and collect plants, using food to maintain stamina. Low stamina affects more than the stamina display: it can reduce Snake’s natural healing and make aiming harder. Rain and temperature are among the environmental conditions that influence survival. Injuries and illness require a different response. The Cure Viewer shows the problem, after which medical treatment addresses internal conditions and surgical treatment handles external wounds. The supplies used for treatment are limited, so replenishing them from plants or enemy stores supports continued infiltration. Keeping Snake fed and treating a wound help sustain the operation, while hunting and searching can expose him to patrols. These systems connect the immediate stealth route to the condition Snake carries into the next encounter.

Snake is sent into enemy territory with firearms, gadgets and close-combat skills, but information is another tool. He can stalk soldiers and interrogate them to learn useful intelligence, then use that knowledge to make his way through their positions. A captured enemy can be used to shield Snake or thrown aside in a CQC move; traps can catch prey or harm an approaching guard. The story also uses radio conversations to provide mission context and let Snake’s allies respond to his situation. Major Zero directs the operation, while Para-Medic monitors Snake’s condition and offers medical advice over the radio. The Boss is both his mentor and a central figure in the mission, and Eva provides support from within Soviet territory. Their Codec calls explain Snake’s condition, the assignment and the people involved, so radio conversations add practical context to the field mission.

Alongside the main story, Delta brings back bonus modes and hidden activities from METAL GEAR SOLID 3, sometimes with new presentation. Snake Vs Monkey sends Snake after escaped apes in a jungle mission. GUY SAVAGE Δ turns a nightmare sequence into an action game created with PlatinumGames, and Secret Theater includes alternate versions of story cinematics. The game also hides Kerotan figures and newly added GA-KO collectibles in its environments. These activities offer different uses for the same stealth, traversal and combat tools, and give returning players recognizable side content to find. They remain extra activities around the main infiltration story rather than a second campaign. The core progression still follows Snake’s mission through Soviet territory and the changing objectives that accompany it.

Delta’s battle-damage presentation makes combat visible on Snake after an encounter. His clothes show wear and tear, while bruises and bullet wounds appear on his body in real time. Injury marks can remain on his model permanently, recording what happened over the course of a player’s run. This visual system gives each Snake a changing appearance as the mission continues through the jungle and enemy facilities. Treating an injury addresses Snake’s condition, while the damage system can leave its mark on the character model.
