About Marvel's Spider-Man 2

Peter Parker and Miles Morales share the work of protecting an expanded Marvel’s New York as Peter’s bond with a powerful symbiote reshapes his abilities and relationships. Pursue Kraven’s hunt and confront new threats while swinging or gliding between Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens, changing Spider-Men as their separate stories unfold.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 follows Peter Parker and Miles Morales into a new chapter as they try to balance their personal lives with protecting New York. Peter’s return to the city coincides with the arrival of his old friend Harry Osborn, whose illness has shaped his life, and with a symbiote that gives Peter formidable new powers. Miles continues to build his own identity as Spider-Man while managing school, family and friendships. Their different responsibilities are part of the central premise: the story moves between two heroes who share a city but do not experience every event from the same perspective. As Kraven and his Hunters arrive in pursuit of powerful prey, the threat reaches into their neighbourhoods and relationships. The story also brings in Curt Connors as the Lizard and Venom as a major danger, setting the two Spider-Men against enemies that challenge both their abilities and their personal bonds.

The playable city now extends across Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens, with places such as Coney Island joining the recognizable skyline and neighbourhood streets. Peter and Miles can swing from buildings, leap between structures and deploy Web Wings to glide across wider gaps. Air currents form wind tunnels that give a glider an extra push, so the player can gain speed and height before continuing through the city. Open-world exploration also supports quick switching between the heroes; some story beats direct the player to a particular Spider-Man, while free-roam lets them change perspective. That movement links the campaign to the map: a trip between districts can lead into a story mission, a side activity or an encounter, then return to the larger route through the city. The expanded geography changes how the pair cross the river and reach lower-rise areas, where gliding complements the familiar web-swinging instead of replacing it.

The campaign combines main missions with side stories and city activities, and Peter and Miles each have missions that belong specifically to their own arc. The game also lets both heroes share some side activities and Spider gadgets, so switching characters does not reset the broader work of protecting the city. Outside scripted missions, players can interact with residents, stop crimes and look for activity prompts while moving through neighbourhoods. Named diversions include tracking Spider-Bots, chasing Talon Drones through their slipstreams and finding repurposed Underground armory crates. These activities add short objectives to traversal rather than turning the map into a checklist of identical encounters. They also place the heroes in different parts of the city, giving exploration a practical link to their daily responsibilities: a player may be gliding toward a mission when a nearby opportunity interrupts the route. Both Spider-Men remain available across much of this free-roam play, while the main story determines who leads particular sequences.

Combat keeps the series’ close-range attacks and web tools but adds more emphasis on abilities that can control groups of enemies. Players can approach many encounters quietly or start a direct fight, and the Web Line gives Spider-Man a way to create an elevated route across an interior before dropping onto enemies. Web Grabber pulls nearby opponents toward one point, setting them up for an area attack or a follow-up ability. The heroes can also use dodges and parries to respond to enemy attacks; some heavy attacks require a correctly timed parry rather than another dodge. These options make enemy positioning matter. A player may isolate one opponent with webs, use a gadget to gather several others, or put distance between the heroes and a dangerous strike before re-entering the fight. The same encounters can mix stealth and open combat, allowing movement between overhead positions and the floor as circumstances change.

Peter and Miles share the role of Spider-Man but have separate ability sets. Peter starts with mechanical Spider-Arms, which extend his reach during attacks, and later gains a distinct set of Symbiote powers tied to the Black Suit. Tendrils can lift nearby enemies before slamming them down, while other Symbiote moves launch or stun a target to open a combo. Miles’ side of the combat system centres on bio-electric Venom powers, with a newer blue evolution of those abilities. His Chain Lightning can affect nearby enemies, and Thunder Burst combines a jump with an electric ground attack. Spider gadgets can set up those powers: the Web Grabber groups foes, for example, making a wider ability hit more targets. Each hero has an individual skill tree, and a third tree provides skills shared by both. Experience points unlock additional moves over time, so progression can widen each character’s options while preserving the same basic controls when the player switches between them.

Suits give Peter and Miles a separate form of customization alongside their combat skills. The wardrobe includes original designs and looks drawn from Spider-Man films and comics, so the player can change how each hero appears while keeping their story and abilities intact. Some suits also have alternate colour styles, allowing more than one look for the same design. This matters in a two-hero game because the heroes have distinct wardrobes as well as distinct powers: the player can dress each for a different visual identity without changing who leads a particular mission. The base game has a broad suit selection; the additional designs advertised for the Digital Deluxe Edition belong to that separate edition rather than the standard campaign. Suit choice sits beside the city activities and skill trees as another reason to return to the game between story missions.
