About Lost Judgment

Two years after Judgment, detective Takayuki Yagami and his partner Masaharu Kaito investigate connected cases in Tokyo and Yokohama, including a murder and bullying at Seiryo High. Yagami searches, tails and chases leads, switches among three fighting styles, and investigates the school's Mystery Research Club through a wide range of club activities.

Takayuki Yagami returns to detective work two years after the previous case, still partnered with former yakuza Masaharu Kaito. A new investigation links Yokohama's Isezaki Ijincho to a criminal case in Tokyo involving Akihiro Ehara, who is convicted of groping a passenger on a crowded train. The case also points toward Hiro Mikoshiba, a man connected to Ehara’s family history. At the same time, Yagami is asked to look into bullying at Seiryo High School. There he becomes an outside advisor to the Mystery Research Club and hears about the Professor, an urban legend connected to student groups. The cases bring him between Kamurocho and Ijincho, where lawyers, school staff, students and local figures become part of the inquiry. The story keeps its central explanations for later, focusing here on the conflicting reports that send Yagami to investigate.

Detective work uses tools suited to different kinds of access. Search sequences ask Yagami to examine a scene for clues; tailing and chase segments follow people on foot; infiltration requires moving through hostile areas without being detected. Parkour expands the routes available, letting him climb and jump across structures that would block ordinary street movement. A Detective Dog can track a scent to help locate clues and can join a fight. The dog adds a companion-based lead-finding tool, while parkour changes how the player moves through a location. These abilities give cases varied physical tasks, but the story determines when they are used and what they reveal. Side cases provide further assignments across the districts without changing the main investigation's focus on the school and the connected criminal proceedings.

Yagami has three base-game fighting styles. Crane uses mobile attacks that reach several opponents, Tiger focuses damage on an individual enemy, and Snake redirects an attacker's momentum with counters and controlled takedowns. The player can switch styles during a fight to respond to enemy numbers and behavior. Light and heavy attacks form combos, while guarding, quicksteps, grabs and throws provide defensive or positional options. Strikes build an EX meter that can be spent on contextual EX Actions or EX Boost. The meter therefore creates a short-term combat decision, while the three styles define how Yagami approaches the opponents in front of him. Crane and Tiger are available from the start, with Snake joining Yagami's set early in the story.

School Stories take Yagami into Seiryo's clubs as he investigates the Professor. Each group has its own activity: the Dance Club uses rhythm performances, the Biker Gang stages Death Races, and the Boxing Gym runs one-on-one matches. The Robotics Club is more involved: three robots compete on a grid to claim territory, and Yagami controls one while the others act under computer control. Players collect and place blocks to expand their side across the board, with the opponent's base providing an instant-win target. Robot parts can be developed, and some components plus Club Funds come from winning matches. These activities combine competition with conversations and evidence about club members, turning the school inquiry into several distinct gameplay loops rather than a single investigation minigame. The club invests match winnings into parts and tactics; ranged options become available later for the computer-controlled teammates.

The School Diary shows four leadership categories, each with levels from one to five, alongside club story progress. Leadership rises as he plays club activities and advances their stories; some stories stop until he reaches a required level or progresses elsewhere. This structure lets the player move to another club and return later instead of repeating one event solely to force the next scene. The Mystery Research Club ties the strands together: its investigation of the Professor requires the other club inquiries to be completed, and Amasawa reviews what Yagami has learned. Smaller activities such as photography, skating, eSports, the casino and Girls' Bar expand the set of students he meets. Their specific formats vary, while the shared school framework records progress and gradually opens more of the investigation.

Outside school, Ijincho's drone league asks Yagami to race a customized drone, and the districts retain diversions such as golf, darts, casino games, batting cages, mahjong and Club SEGA. These pursuits sit alongside side cases as optional activities with their own rules. The base-game story follows Yagami; two add-on boundaries are useful to distinguish. The School Stories Expansion Pack adds a new motorcycle, race course, dance outfit, robot and Boxer style, while The Kaito Files is a separate post-story expansion about Kaito taking a case while Yagami is away. Neither changes the base-game premise or replaces its standard three styles. Paradise VR's Ijincho branch adds Dice & Cube, a board game, and Air Seiros, a drone-shooting game. The skate park also offers timed trick missions and races against six rivals on Yokohama streets. The official lineup also separates the Detective Essentials Pack from these school and character-story additions.
