About FINAL FANTASY XV WINDOWS EDITION

Prince Noctis leaves Lucis with his friends to travel toward Altissia and marry the Oracle Lunafreya, but an imperial assault overturns the journey. FINAL FANTASY XV follows the four companions across Eos as they fight, drive, explore and work toward reclaiming Noctis's homeland.

FINAL FANTASY XV begins with a royal road trip. Prince Noctis Lucis Caelum leaves the Crown City of Insomnia with his three closest companions, bound for Altissia to marry Lunafreya Nox Fleuret as part of a peace arrangement between Lucis and the Niflheim Empire. The trip changes when Niflheim attacks the capital and Noctis receives word that his kingdom has fallen. He and his friends continue through Eos, trying to learn what happened and restore Lucis. The story stays close to Noctis and the people travelling with him: his childhood friend Prompto, royal retainer Ignis and sworn protector Gladiolus. Their route connects a personal journey with a conflict between a kingdom protected by the Crystal and an empire built around magitek and military expansion.

Eos is arranged for travel by road as well as on foot. The Regalia, the car inherited from Noctis's father, carries the group between settlements, service stations and quest areas; the player can drive manually, let Ignis take the wheel or use available fast travel. Chocobos offer another way to cover open ground after they become available. Along the route, Noctis can take on hunts, requests from residents and other optional tasks, returning to a main objective when ready. The open areas invite the party to detour toward enemy camps, fishing spots and landmarks. Encounters happen in the field, so a roadside discovery can become a fight without loading into a separate battle arena. The travel structure gives the four companions time to talk, take photos and respond to changing surroundings between story events.

The three friends each contribute to the journey beyond being combat support. Gladiolus is a Crownsguard fighter and the group's outdoorsman, while Ignis drives, keeps the group's accounts and prepares meals from recipes learned along the way. Prompto brings a camera and records images from the route. Noctis is the prince at the centre of the party and leads the default combat controls. His companions act alongside him and have individual techniques that can be called during battle; the Windows Edition also includes a character-swap feature. Their practical skills shape what happens at rest stops and in combat.

Fights begin where enemies are encountered and unfold as real-time action. Noctis equips weapons, shields and magic in a set of combat slots, then attacks, guards, dodges and responds to openings as opponents move around the battlefield. His warp ability throws a weapon toward a target or point and pulls him across the distance; a long-range warp strike can hit hard, while warping to a perch gives him room to recover or assess the fight. Timing a guard can create a parry and a follow-up counter, and nearby allies may join in a Link-Strike. Gladiolus, Ignis and Prompto have separate Techniques that can be directed through the party command interface. This means combat is not only about Noctis's weapon choice: the player watches enemy attacks, positions him for a warp or counter and spends team abilities when the opening suits their effect.

Weapons and Elemancy give Noctis different answers to enemy defenses. He can equip blades, greatswords, daggers, polearms, firearms and shields, changing the mix of range, speed and protection in his active slots. Magic is crafted rather than selected from a fixed spell list: Noctis collects fire, ice or lightning energy from sources around Eos, combines it in a Magic Flask and can add an item as a catalyst to alter the result or its strength. A crafted spell is then equipped as a weapon and used during combat. Because flasks and elemental energy are resources, the player chooses when an explosive spell or an added effect is worth spending. Weapons and accessories found or purchased on the journey change attributes and combat options, while royal arms connect Noctis's fighting style to the history of the Lucian kings.

Progression happens through several connected systems. Experience from battles and quests is tallied but only applied when the party rests; inns can multiply that experience, while outdoor camps let Ignis cook a meal that provides temporary bonuses. Choosing where to sleep therefore affects both character growth and preparation for the next stretch of road. Ability Points are spent in the Ascension menu, whose skill branches unlock improvements for combat, techniques, exploration and the party's routine activities. AP can come from more than defeating enemies: camping, using specific battle actions, driving, riding chocobos, fishing and cooking can contribute when the relevant abilities are unlocked. Survival supplies and ingredients collected in the field also matter because they support meals and crafted spells. The player can pursue quests, hunts and dungeons to build experience and gather useful equipment before returning to the main route.

The Windows Edition combines the main Noctis campaign with additions and separate expansion content. Its base story remains the journey across Eos with Prompto, Ignis and Gladiolus; Episode Gladiolus, Episode Prompto and Episode Ignis are separate story episodes focused on those companions. The included Multiplayer Expansion: Comrades is a distinct expansion from Noctis's road-trip campaign. The edition also includes updated main-game material such as the expanded Insomnia map, first-person view, Royal Cruiser travel and Armiger Unleashed. These additions widen what is available in this Windows release, while the central narrative continues to follow Noctis and his three friends from the departure out of Insomnia through their effort to reclaim Lucis.
