About ELEX II

Several years after Jax defeated the Hybrid, a new threat called the Skyands reaches Magalan and spreads dark Elex. To protect his family and find his separated son Dex, Jax must explore the planet, develop his abilities and persuade its divided factions to face the invasion together.

ELEX II returns to Magalan several years after the events of ELEX, after Jax defeated the Hybrid. The arrival of the Skyands threatens life across the planet and brings the dangerous power of dark Elex into a world already divided by ideology and old rivalries. Jax has two connected personal and political goals: protect his family and help the free people resist the invasion. His son Dex has become separated from him, so the effort to convince the factions to unite also carries a search for someone close to Jax. The story follows Jax’s actions and conversations without requiring a detailed recap of the original game’s ending.

Magalan is a continuous post-apocalyptic science-fantasy landscape, moving between wilderness, ruined structures and settlements shaped by the groups that occupy them. Jax can cross much of this terrain on foot, but his jetpack turns cliffs, rooftops and ravines into routes rather than hard boundaries. It is available early and runs on a limited fuel reserve that refills after he lands. At a Jet Pack Bench, upgrades bought with skill points and Elexit can extend airtime, improve speed or add movement options; collecting fuel and using an Additional Tank upgrade permanently expands capacity. Floating unlocks the ability to hover and use weapons in the air, while later movement upgrades add lateral control or a powered dash. These improvements make vertical exploration and combat grow together instead of treating flight as scenery alone.

The factions offer different histories and different paths into the game’s skills and equipment. The Berserkers are skilled magicians who have transformed Tavar’s desert into green land; the Albs return as a playable group after changing their use of Elex in light of past events. The Morkons come from an underground community that is now spreading its religion across Magalan, while the scattered Outlaws maintain their criminal way of life and the Clerics are known for engineering Elex-powered combat robots. Jax can investigate faction quests and earn experience before making a commitment, and the game does not force him to join one simply to continue the main story. Becoming a member opens faction abilities and weapons, so the choice affects both how he fights and how he is received. The factions also matter to the central task: convincing groups with competing beliefs to confront the same threat.

Exploration is structured around quests, people and places rather than a single guided route. Jax can follow the main effort against the Skyands, take side jobs in settlements, investigate problems within a faction or travel to a point of interest suggested by a conversation or discovery. His companions can accompany him, and the Bastion serves as a home for Jax and his allies. The world tracks how he behaves: non-player characters may remember his choices, change their attitude, join or leave his group, and in some cases can be killed with consequences for the story. Dialogue and decisions therefore feed back into access and relationships. This gives faction diplomacy a practical role alongside combat, because the people Jax recruits and the way he treats them can alter the support available during the broader campaign.

Combat combines close-range weapons, firearms, magic and movement, with stamina governing the rhythm of melee exchanges. Attacks, blocks, dodges and sprinting draw from the same stamina reserve, which recovers during a fight; spending it too freely can leave Jax unable to respond until it returns. Enemies have stamina as well, creating openings when they are exhausted. Ranged weapons give him options at a distance, while faction abilities can add spells or other specialized attacks. The jetpack has its own progression: the Floating upgrade enables attacks while hovering, after which boosters can help him reposition in the air. A fight might begin with a ranged approach, close into a melee exchange, then use a short burst of flight to change elevation or leave danger. The exact abilities available depend on the skills and faction Jax develops.

Character growth ties experience to deliberate investment. Completing quests, defeating opponents and finding written records can award experience; each new level provides a skill point and attribute points. Attributes such as Strength, Constitution, Dexterity, Intelligence and Cunning influence damage, health, magic or critical performance, as well as the requirements for stronger weapons and skills. Skill trainers teach abilities after Jax meets their conditions, and Elexit crystals pay for training and upgrades. Crafting stations let him make or improve equipment, prepare ammunition and grenades, cook food, brew potions and work on his jetpack when he has the appropriate skill and materials. The Destruction measure also responds to choices, from helpful or generous actions to hostile conduct, and can affect whether some factions will accept him. These systems make quests, dialogue, scavenging and combat contribute to one evolving character rather than separate campaign activities.

As the campaign grows, companions, faction missions and the open map give the player reasons to revisit Magalan with new tools. Fast-travel points link discovered areas, while jetpack upgrades reach heights or crossings that were once awkward or inaccessible. Faction story arcs add local conflicts and further choices to the attempt to build a united front; their different skills also reward revisiting the trainers and equipment each group makes available. Side activities can strengthen a relationship, change an NPC’s view of Jax or supply the experience and materials needed to develop him. The central loop is to travel, take on quests, learn what each group needs, decide how to respond, and return better prepared for tougher encounters. New equipment, abilities and allies open additional ways to approach that loop while the Skyand danger escalates across the planet.
