About Anna - Extended Edition

In Anna - Extended Edition, a man enters an abandoned Italian mountain sawmill he has known through dreams. Search for clues to his past, solve physical puzzles, and watch the building and his mental state respond to your actions. This revised version adds environments and puzzles, with choices leading toward eight possible endings.

Anna - Extended Edition places a first-person psychological horror adventure inside an abandoned sawmill high in the mountains of northern Italy. The protagonist arrives at a site that has already occupied his dreams, and the familiar landscape feels divided: daylight gives the exterior an inviting calm, while the mill holds a darkness connected to his own mind. Rather than introducing a separate cast of travelling companions or a combat mission, the game focuses on one character confronting a place and a personal history that he does not fully understand. The mill's rooms, objects and supernatural events provide the pieces of that history, so exploration is also a way of asking what the protagonist has done and what he can remember.

Progress comes from close inspection and environmental puzzles. The player searches the mill and its surroundings for objects, visual clues and details that can be combined into a useful answer. Puzzles use physical interactions with the environment, making observation important: a mechanism or arrangement may suggest how items fit together, while the context of a room can make a clue meaningful. There is no emphasis on fighting; the central tasks are to investigate, interpret and act. The experience therefore links its horror to uncertainty about what a discovered object means and how it relates to the protagonist's past. A clue can open a route or reveal another piece of the setting, but the story does not reduce every mystery to a simple key-and-lock sequence.

The sawmill responds to player behaviour: locations can change, supernatural events can begin and new secrets can emerge. The protagonist's mental health is affected as well, tying the way a scene unfolds to the character's state. This makes exploration sensitive to action. A changed room is not simply a new backdrop; it can signal that the investigation has shifted and invite another look at familiar details. The player has to connect conduct with what becomes visible, then decide how to interpret the next clue. The setting thus supports both practical puzzle solving and the psychological story, since the same action can alter what the character experiences and what the player can investigate.

Clues are tied to the protagonist's dark past, so solving a physical puzzle also means deciding what kind of evidence deserves attention. The sawmill's objects and rooms are not explained by a separate narrator; the player must find horrific details, work out how they fit together and consider why the character reacts to them. This gives the adventure a close point of view: its mysteries concern the building, but also the person searching it. Environmental puzzles provide a concrete task when the history feels uncertain, while supernatural events make the familiar surroundings harder to read. The player moves between these two forms of inquiry, using practical observation to approach an increasingly personal mystery.

A disturbing figure known as the Wife Doll adds a more active presence to the setting. In the Extended Edition its updated behaviour lets it become part of the game's atmosphere and encounters. Its presence contributes to the sense that the mill is responsive, while the broader supernatural events make familiar spaces feel unstable. The story uses this unease to keep the player attentive to the surroundings, where a change can be as significant as a new object. Audio and visual atmosphere support the same close focus: the player explores a small set of connected places and reads their details for both practical puzzle information and clues about the character's state. The doll's new behaviour also gives the edition a distinctive threat within its otherwise investigative, puzzle-led play.

The Extended Edition broadens the investigation with additional environments and puzzles, new gameplay features and music, improved graphics and an updated interface. The added spaces give the player more of the sawmill and its surroundings to examine, while the expanded puzzle set creates further opportunities to connect found clues with the character's history. The changes keep the same central premise: one person enters a place tied to his dreams and uncovers what links it to his past. They make this edition a fuller version of that adventure, with more settings and interactions through which the player can follow the story's psychological and supernatural threads.

Player actions lead toward one of eight possible endings. The game lets behaviour shape mental health, locations and supernatural events, then carries those choices into different conclusions. Its branching structure is rooted in how the investigation develops rather than in a party of characters or a sequence of combat decisions. The result is an adventure where solving puzzles, exploring changing rooms and responding to disturbing clues all contribute to the route through the story. The endings belong to the player to uncover; the premise alone is enough to establish the stakes, as the character's understanding of the sawmill and his own past are bound together.
