Bernard returns from the Sublime after exploring possible futures with Akecheta. He knows that the paths ahead lead toward catastrophe and that his own survival is not part of the route he must pursue. Reunited with Stubbs, he uses small details at a roadside diner to work out which sequence of events is unfolding. He kills two hosts who were preparing to infiltrate a resistance group, then meets a woman connected to that group. She takes Bernard and Stubbs into the desert, where he offers to locate a buried weapon that could help their fight against the hosts.
Inside the new 1920s park, Maeve recognises recycled Westworld stories and uses a nightclub shootout to reach the maintenance areas with Caleb. Their investigation takes them past another staged adventure into laboratories where flies and parasites are being prepared. They watch human prisoners respond to musical tones by killing themselves, then Caleb spots what looks like Frankie among the next victims. Elsewhere, the real Frankie and Uwade discover that their protector has been replaced by a host and escape him. Caleb breaks into the testing room to rescue the child, only to discover a host copy whose head opens and releases flies into his face. William attacks Maeve as the trap closes.
