William, Logan and Dolores reach Pariah, where the outlaw El Lazo offers access to a war adventure in exchange for stealing a shipment of nitroglycerin. William becomes more violent during the robbery, and Logan enjoys testing how far he will go. Their argument exposes the unequal relationship waiting for them outside the park. Dolores wanders through visions and discovers that El Lazo has switched the explosives for liquor. When the Confederados uncover the deception, Logan is captured. William chooses to leave him behind and escape with Dolores. They board a train and find El Lazo traveling with the stolen explosives concealed in bodies; he tells them to call him Lawrence.
Ford questions Dolores about Arnold, pressing her on their last contact and the instruction to destroy the park. She appears compliant with Ford, then speaks privately as though she has concealed something from him. Elsie finds a transmitter inside the stray host and concludes that somebody has been moving information out of Westworld. The Man in Black kills Lawrence to use his blood for the wounded Teddy, then encounters Ford at a tavern. Their conversation circles around the maze and the visitor's desire for something beyond the usual stories. In the repair facility, Felix succeeds in reviving a small mechanical bird, only to find Maeve awake and ready to speak with him.
