Wednesday finally tells Morticia about her vision of Enid's death, but her mother still refuses to return Goody's book. Forced to investigate without psychic help, Wednesday uses Galpin's phone and evidence gathered by Agnes to locate a hidden cabin called the bullpen. It lies near Nevermore's camping destination, giving her a reason to join the trip. Pugsley brings Slurp along in secret, while Enid tries to settle her changing relationship with Ajax. The students arrive to find that Phoenix cadets have booked the same campsite. Wednesday proposes a competition for the right to stay, then helps Nevermore win so that her investigation can continue nearby.
While the others celebrate, Wednesday searches the cabin and finds obituaries linking apparently dead outcasts to Willow Hill. The name LOIS stands out, but she cannot yet explain it. Hoping to regain the book and her visions, she challenges Morticia to a blindfolded duel. Their confrontation coincides with another intrusion by the cadets and Slurp's escape. The creature attacks cadet leader Ron Kruger and consumes his brain, exposing the danger Pugsley has kept hidden. Wednesday loses the duel, so Goody's book remains with Morticia. Slurp is taken away in a Willow Hill vehicle, connecting Pugsley's problem to Wednesday's investigation. At the hospital, Laurel arrives as another patient.
