A.J. struggles after Blanca leaves him, quits his job at the pizzeria and begins therapy. Tony worries about the family's history of depression but also urges him to socialize with Jason Gervasi and Jason Parisi. The two young men involve A.J. in their college gambling business. He helps restrain a debtor while they burn the boy's toes with acid. Christopher meanwhile explains that he avoids gatherings with the crew to protect his sobriety, but Tony regards the absence as a possible lack of commitment. Paulie deepens Christopher's resentment by having Little Paulie steal tools from the store belonging to Christopher's father-in-law.
After another theft, Christopher throws Little Paulie from a second-floor window, severely injuring him. Paulie retaliates by driving through Christopher's landscaped garden. Tony arranges a settlement between them, and Christopher joins Paulie for a drink at the Bada Bing. He becomes drunk and talks about his daughter, prompting degrading jokes from Paulie and laughter from the others. Christopher leaves feeling humiliated and goes to J.T. Dolan's apartment. He begins talking about his criminal life, but J.T. refuses to hear more and reminds him that he is in the Mafia. Christopher turns back as he is leaving and shoots J.T. in the head. At home afterward, he straightens a sapling damaged during Paulie's rampage before going inside.
