Tony agrees to pay for damage from Phil's car crash and sends the vehicle to Angie's body shop, where Phil keeps demanding unnecessary work. Carmela plans Hugh's birthday celebration without Tony, concerned about their separation and her mother's expectations. Junior spoils the surprise by telling Hugh about the party. Hugh insists that Tony attend, prompting Carmela to invite him after all and bringing the separated couple together for the family gathering.

Tony gives Hugh a shotgun and joins the food and celebrations, while Mary's friend Russ Fegoli makes a remark that diminishes the gift. Carmela angrily challenges her mother's embarrassment about Tony. Later, the younger guests play in the pool, and Tony and A.J. throw Carmela into the water. After the guests leave, Tony and Carmela kiss and spend the night together. He departs in the morning before she wakes, without resolving the terms of their separation.

Blundetto initially refuses Angelo and Rusty's offer to kill someone in the New York dispute. Money worries and his sons' envy of the Soprano household help change his decision. He accepts the assignment and waits for Joey Peeps outside a brothel. Blundetto shoots Joey and the woman beside him, but the car rolls over his foot as Joey dies. He limps back to his own vehicle, leaving the scene injured as well as implicated in the feud.
