Season synopsis
Contains spoilers for this season and earlier seasons.
Michael begins the season still running Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch, while Pam gives up on sales and creates an office-administrator role for herself. Erin dates Gabe, leaving Andy jealous, and Angela starts seeing Pennsylvania State Senator Robert Lipton, whom Oscar suspects is hiding his sexuality. Holly returns to Scranton, and Michael’s feelings for her grow into a relationship. Their plans become serious when Michael proposes and decides to move with her to Colorado. He also completes his homemade action film, Threat Level Midnight, and screens it for the office. Dwight buys the Scranton Business Park, becoming landlord to the Dunder Mifflin branch that operates there. Michael says his goodbyes individually before leaving, and Pam catches him at the airport.
After Michael leaves to join Holly in Colorado, DeAngelo takes over the branch. His management ends when he is injured in a basketball stunt and falls into a coma. Jo Bennett appoints Dwight interim manager, but a gun he brings to work accidentally fires into the floor beside Andy, temporarily affecting Andy’s hearing. Jo removes Dwight from the interim role and puts Creed in charge while a committee searches for DeAngelo’s replacement. The committee interviews Andy, Darryl, Dwight, and other applicants, but the season ends before it announces a decision.
