Season synopsis

Jim and Pam begin the season as a couple, while Michael's attempt to lift a supposed office curse turns into a charity run after he hits Meredith with his car. Ryan returns from corporate with a plan to push Dunder Mifflin online. Michael resists the new system and tries to win clients through personal visits, while Dwight treats the website as a rival salesman. Dwight's relationship with Angela breaks down after he kills her sick cat, Sprinkles. She begins dating Andy, leaving Dwight struggling to accept that she has moved on.
Michael's life outside work grows harder to manage. Jan's spending and renovations leave him buried in debt, and he takes a second job before asking Oscar for help. Her lawsuit against Dunder Mifflin draws Michael into a deposition in which his private diary becomes evidence. Their arguments spill into a dinner party with Jim, Pam, Andy and Angela, ending with a smashed television and police at the condominium. Ryan's corporate career also collapses: he is arrested after inflating the website's sales figures by counting transactions twice.
Toby prepares to leave for Costa Rica, and his replacement, Holly Flax, immediately connects with Michael. Jan reveals she is pregnant through a sperm donor, complicating his hopes of starting something with Holly. Pam is accepted into a graphic-design programme in New York. Jim plans to propose at Toby's farewell party, but Andy takes the moment by proposing to Angela, and Jim holds back. Angela accepts Andy's proposal; afterwards, Phyllis discovers her having sex with Dwight in the office, exposing an affair Andy knows nothing about.
