Season 3

Season synopsis

Contains spoilers for this season and earlier seasons.

After the Casino Night kiss, Jim works at Dunder Mifflin's Stamford branch and becomes friends with new colleagues Karen Filippelli and Andy Bernard. In Scranton, Michael accidentally outs Oscar, who takes a corporate-paid leave before returning. Jan tells Michael that Scranton will close, and he tries to keep the staff moving through the uncertainty.

Corporate instead closes Stamford and merges its employees into Scranton. Jim returns with Karen and Andy; Pam has ended her engagement to Roy, but Jim is now dating Karen. Andy works to become Michael's favorite, then punches a wall and is sent to anger management. Dwight and Angela continue their secret affair. Pam invites the office to her art exhibition, but Michael is the one who arrives and asks to buy her painting of the office; he hangs it beside his office.

Michael and Jan make their relationship public; later, Michael takes the women to the mall to ask how to break up with Jan. Roy learns that Pam kissed Jim and attacks him at the office. Dwight pepper-sprays him, and Michael and Toby fire Roy. At Lake Scranton, Michael runs a competition to find a possible successor while Pam finally tells Jim how hard it was to watch him leave. In the finale, Jim and Karen interview for a corporate job alongside Michael. Michael stays in Scranton; Jim turns down the job, returns to ask Pam on a date, and Ryan gets the position.
