Greef Karga offers the Mandalorian a way to end the pursuit of the child. Imperial forces have tightened their grip on Nevarro, and Greef proposes using the child to draw out the Client and kill him. In return, the bounty will disappear. The Mandalorian recruits Cara Dune and Kuiil rather than walk into the meeting alone. Kuiil brings the rebuilt IG-11, now programmed to nurse and protect, although the hunter remains unwilling to trust a droid that once tried to kill their small companion.
The journey changes Greef's intentions before they reach the town. Flying creatures attack their camp, leaving him badly injured. The child heals his wound with a power the others cannot explain. Greef then kills his own associates and admits that his original offer was a trap: he intended to betray the Mandalorian and surrender the child. Having been saved, he agrees to help. They send Kuiil back toward the Razor Crest with the child while Cara escorts the apparently captured hunter into the Client's meeting.
The deception gets them inside, but the Client is no longer the greatest threat. During a communication with Moff Gideon, Imperial troops open fire on the building, killing the Client and leaving the others surrounded. Gideon arrives with forces far beyond the local remnant they expected to confront. Outside town, two scout troopers intercept Kuiil before he can reach the ship. The Mandalorian's unanswered calls end with Kuiil lying dead and the child in Imperial hands, leaving both parts of the rescue plan broken.
