Needing another paid job outside the guild, the Mandalorian returns to an old associate, Ran. A hired crew needs the Razor Crest to reach a New Republic prison transport and release Qin, the brother of fellow crew member Xi'an. Mayfeld, Burg and the pilot droid Zero complete a team whose mocking familiarity makes the journey tense. The ship and the Mandalorian's experience are useful to them, but their history offers no guarantee that they will treat him as a partner once the prisoner is free.
The boarding party fights through security droids and reaches a human guard. The Mandalorian tries to keep him alive, but Xi'an kills him during the confrontation, and an emergency beacon starts the countdown to a response. Finding Qin brings another betrayal: the crew locks the Mandalorian in the emptied cell and leaves him behind. He escapes and takes control of the ship's systems, separating his former companions and hunting them through the corridors. Qin finally bargains for his own return rather than defend the people who freed him.
Back aboard the Razor Crest, the Mandalorian destroys Zero as it threatens the child. He delivers Qin and collects payment, leaving Ran to order a gunship after him. The emergency beacon is now hidden on Qin, drawing New Republic X-wings to Ran's station instead. They destroy the pursuing craft and attack the base. Mayfeld, Burg and Xi'an are shown alive in a cell, revealing that the Mandalorian imprisoned them rather than killed them.
