Do-san joins Dal-mi at the networking party, where she introduces him as her boyfriend. Questions about Samsan Tech's finances quickly expose how little he can support the impression she wants to give. Ji-pyeong steps in and presents himself as an interested investor, then coaches Do-san through a pretend business conversation. Outside, Dal-mi's mother criticizes her ambitions by comparing her with her late father, leaving Dal-mi in tears as she departs with Do-san.
Ji-pyeong lends Do-san his car and follows their trip home. The evening continues over food by the river, where Do-san realizes he wants more than a temporary performance. He gives Dal-mi his business card and admits he has never had a girlfriend. Dal-mi responds with equal openness, still believing he wrote the childhood letters. Ji-pyeong helps compose his replies afterward, while Won-deok considers ending the deception before it becomes harder to explain.
Dal-mi quits her cafe job to pursue a company of her own. Her visit to Samsan Tech forces Ji-pyeong to provide another impressive substitute office. In-jae also breaks with her stepfather after discovering that he plans to put his son ahead of her, and starts again independently. Samsan Tech's competition win gives Do-san evidence that his work deserves attention. Dal-mi, In-jae and the programmers apply to Sandbox, bringing their ambitions into the same contest.
