Otis waits at the hospital after Jean hemorrhages and undergoes surgery, fearing that their last argument might remain unresolved. She wakes and begins recovering, allowing them to speak about his wish to help people and his feelings for Maeve. Otis also encounters Hope, who describes her disappointment after years of trying to have a baby. He listens without excusing the way she treated the students. Jean later opens the paternity results and reacts with shock. At Moordale, the pupils learn that the investors have withdrawn their support and the school will be sold, leaving them to find somewhere else to study.
Eric and Adam talk after the confession about Nigeria. Eric admits that he does not regret the kiss and cannot keep slowing his own life to match Adam's pace, so they separate. Adam competes successfully at a dog show, then tells Maureen that Eric was his boyfriend. Aimee decides to end her relationship with Steve as she works on herself, while Jackson and Cal agree to remain friends. Erin gives Maeve the money for America, and Aimee urges her to accept the opportunity instead of staying for Otis. Maeve visits him before leaving and explains her decision. They acknowledge their feelings but agree to see where they stand when she returns. Otis lets her go with his support rather than asking her to give up the program.
