Otis tries to repair the damage with Jean and Maeve, then visits Remi to ask why his father left. Remi admits his failings and urges him to keep close to the people who understand him. While Maeve competes in the national quiz final, Otis leaves a voicemail apologizing and telling her that he loves her. Maeve has asked Isaac to check the caravan and receives a photograph confirming Erin's relapse. She reports her concerns to social services before the quiz. Her team wins, but the celebration gives way to Erin's anger when Elsie is taken into care.
Jackson prepares for the school musical with Viv's support, and their friendship recovers. During the performance, Adam interrupts to tell Eric that he wants to hold his hand. Eric accepts, leaving Rahim hurt. Groff tries to stop the production and blame Jean, but Otis and other students defend her. The school chairman tells Groff to take leave. Jean also learns that she is pregnant. Afterward, Otis visits Maeve's caravan while she is briefly out buying milk. Isaac avoids telling him where she has gone and agrees to pass on that Otis called. Instead, he listens to the voicemail on Maeve's phone and deletes it. Maeve does not hear Otis's confession before the season ends.
