Episode 6

Contains spoilers for this episode and earlier episodes.

After Ola ends their relationship, Otis announces that he will host a small gathering to prove he can relax. Eric invites enough students to turn it into a party, and Otis quickly loses control of both the evening and his drinking. Maeve arrives with Isaac, making Otis jealous despite his decision to stop seeing her. Ola comes to collect her things and finds him behaving just as awkwardly around her. Maeve has recently rejoined the quiz team and helped them reach the final, but the confidence of that success offers little protection when Otis stops the music and publicly attacks her.

His speech humiliates both Maeve and Ola, blaming them for the choices he has made. Maeve leaves, and Isaac offers sympathy while insisting that Otis cannot understand their difficult childhoods. Jackson also struggles at the party, where Viv stops him from hurting himself again and later tells his mothers what has been happening. Eric confronts Adam about the years of bullying that damaged his confidence; Adam says that he thinks he is bisexual. Ola finds unexpected companionship with Adam after Lily rejects her attempts to talk. Jean returns from a night out with Maureen to discover the wrecked house and Otis asleep beside Ruby. Groff, desperate to learn what Maureen told Jean, steals Jean's notebook from Otis's locker and copies her private notes.
