Elliot asks Mr. Robot what happened to Tyrell on the night of the hack. Mr. Robot claims that he shot him with the gun hidden at the arcade, giving Elliot an account he has struggled to obtain. Ray then puts Elliot back at the computer to restore the marketplace. Elliot completes the work while exposing the site beyond its protected network and sending an anonymous tip. Ray realizes that the authorities are already coming.

He tells Elliot to expect a letter and mentions Whiterose, revealing that his protection is connected to the Dark Army. During a visit from Krista, Elliot finally admits that he has not been living at his mother's house. His supposed domestic routine has been a way of representing life in prison.
