A flashback shows Elliot meeting Shayla when she moves into his building, before their relationship and Vera's violence. A month after her death, Elliot declines both Krista's invitation to continue therapy and Gideon's offer of time away from work. He stores what remains of Shayla in his collection of personal information and destroys his equipment. Angela pursues the Washington Township lawsuit through Antara and secures a private meeting with Colby. He responds to her questions with insults and an offer of money. Angela instead offers to undermine the evidence against him by claiming that she broke its chain of custody.
Colby eventually agrees to cooperate, and Angela asks him to describe the meeting where executives decided to ignore the contamination. His account of an ordinary business discussion makes the deaths of her mother and Elliot's father harder for her to accept. Mr. Robot tries to rebuild fsociety, threatening Romero with a gun to bring him back. Darlene obtains a meeting with Whiterose through Cisco's connection and persuades Trenton to return. Elsewhere, Tyrell attends the reception welcoming Scott Knowles as CTO. He draws Sharon onto the rooftop, where their encounter turns violent. Tyrell strangles her and then discovers that she is dead, leaving the body behind as he returns to the party. Elliot returns to Krista and admits that he has hacked her.
