Season synopsis
Contains spoilers for this part and earlier parts.
After the Royal Mint escape, the crew scatters to quiet lives, but Tokyo leaves the island where she and Rio have been hiding. Interpol traces his satellite-phone call, captures him and subjects him to torture. The Professor brings Raquel, now Lisbon, and the others back together, using Berlin and Palermo’s old idea to rob the Bank of Spain. Tokyo, Nairobi, Denver, Stockholm, Helsinki, Bogotá and Palermo enter the bank while the Professor and Lisbon manage the operation outside. The crew releases money over Madrid to draw a crowd, then takes hostages and begins melting the gold. Palermo’s command clashes with Tokyo’s, while the police led by Alicia Sierra push harder than Raquel did during the first heist.
The Professor’s team trades captured officers for Rio, but Nairobi is shot after Sierra uses Nairobi’s son Axel to draw her to a window. The robbers try to keep her alive as police vehicles move in. Outside, Lisbon hides on a farm and bargains with its owners, but police find her. Sierra orders officers to stage her execution over the radio; hearing the shots, the Professor believes she is dead and tells Palermo that the heist has become a war. Tokyo and Rio fire at an advancing armoured vehicle, and the part closes with Nairobi unresponsive while Lisbon is actually alive in police custody. The bank robbery is still under way, with the crew facing a police assault and the Professor acting on a false account of Lisbon’s fate.
