After escaping the Battle of New York with the Tesseract, this 2012 Loki is arrested by the Time Variance Authority and learns that it treats his escape as an illegal branch. Agent Mobius recruits him to track a Loki variant ambushing TVA teams. Loki studies apocalyptic events to work out where the variant hides and finds her in Alabama: she is Sylvie, who rejects his offer to overthrow the Time-Keepers and sends reset charges across the Sacred Timeline, forcing the TVA into crisis.
Loki and Sylvie are stranded on the doomed moon Lamentis-1, where their growing connection creates a branch just before the TVA captures them. They discover that TVA workers were taken from ordinary lives, and Sylvie learns that the Time-Keepers are artificial figures. After Loki is pruned, he wakes in the Void among other Loki variants; he and Sylvie enchant Alioth, with Classic Loki sacrificing himself to open a route to the Citadel at the End of Time. Mobius returns to the TVA to challenge its story.
At the Citadel, He Who Remains explains that he ended a multiversal war by using Alioth to destroy rival timelines, then built the TVA to preserve one controlled timeline. He offers Loki the chance to replace him overseeing the TVA, but Sylvie wants him dead. Loki tries to stop her; after they kiss, she sends him back to TVA headquarters and kills He Who Remains. The timelines branch beyond TVA control. Loki warns Mobius and B-15 about the coming variants, but neither recognizes him, and a statue of He Who Remains now dominates the office.
