Gang-tae's spontaneous invitation immediately runs into practical limits: he has no passport and initially expects to return the same day. Moon-young is furious, and their first attempt to leave ends in another argument. They eventually agree on a mountain trip and cross a suspension bridge together, with Gang-tae encouraging her past her fear of heights. A call from Jeong-tae interrupts the outing. He has left the hospital to meet A-reum after her family arranged her discharge. The pair need help at a guesthouse, and Moon-young pays for a neighboring room. Gang-tae phones Sang-tae to explain that he might stay away overnight, still uneasy about the change.
During their evening together, Moon-young remembers her childhood friendship with Ju-ri and her attempts to keep that friend to herself. Gang-tae admits that Moon-young makes him laugh and brings her flowers the following morning, leading to a kiss. Jeong-tae decides he must return to treatment rather than keep running away with A-reum. Back at the hospital, rumors about Gang-tae and Moon-young reach Sang-tae, who has been unable to reach his brother by phone. Hearing Gang-tae deny meeting Jeong-tae triggers a public confrontation. Sang-tae repeats Gang-tae's childhood wish that he would die and accuses him of pushing him through the ice. Gang-tae collapses in tears, denying the accusation while Moon-young watches.
