Kim Shin sees an older Eun-tak in Quebec and interprets the troubling vision as a future without him. Back in the present, she questions what the sword means and why she can find so little about his distant past. She still believes removing it will free him from suffering. When she finally agrees to do it, Shin retreats again, suddenly unable to face the decision he has spent centuries anticipating.
He repeatedly postpones the removal until tomorrow while preparing to leave the people around him. Chairman Yoo receives instructions for after his death, Deok-hwa gets a credit card, and the Grim Reaper is left the house. Shin also asks the Reaper to help Eun-tak forget him so that she will not blame herself. His gifts to her imagine ordinary milestones he believes he will never share.
The Reaper has his own difficult steps to take with Sunny, bringing Deok-hwa to a meeting and using his powers when the younger man attracts her attention. Eun-tak's attempt to remove the sword takes Shin back to the field where his punishment began. She can see the weapon but cannot grasp it. Convinced that a fairy-tale curse might need a different answer, she kisses him.
