Season synopsis

Serena works on a film in Los Angeles while Blair returns to New York preparing to marry Prince Louis and expecting a child. Chuck tries to become a better person; Dan publishes Inside, a novel drawn from his friends, and grows closer to Blair. At the royal wedding, Gossip Girl releases a recording of Blair admitting she loves Chuck. Blair marries Louis, but learns at the reception that he sees their union as a loveless contract, so she leaves with Dan. Their friendship becomes a romance.
Before the wedding, Chuck and Blair leave together, but their limousine crashes after paparazzi pursue them; the brakes had been tampered with in a plot aimed at Nate. Chuck survives, but Blair loses the baby. She believes a vow to marry Louis and stay away from Chuck helped save his life, so she keeps her distance while Dan supports her through the loss. Serena later seduces Dan and secretly records their encounter to hurt Blair. Dan walks out when he discovers the recording, while Blair admits she still loves Chuck.
The real Charlie Rhodes, Lola, learns Lily sabotaged Carol’s legal defense and protected her claim to CeCe’s wealth. Bart Bass, believed dead after an earlier apparent death, returns alive and takes control of Bass Industries, pushing Chuck out. Blair chooses Chuck, but he initially turns her away while concentrating on his father. Dan leaves to write a harsher book with Georgina’s help; Serena leaves New York in distress. In Monte Carlo, Blair joins Chuck and Jack’s effort against Bart and tells Chuck she will fight for him.
