Season synopsis
Contains spoilers for this season and earlier seasons.
Luke accepts Lorelai’s proposal, but their wedding plans wait while Lorelai and Rory remain estranged. Rory completes community service for stealing the yacht and works for Emily’s Daughters of the American Revolution chapter; a visit from Jess makes her question the life she has chosen. She returns to Yale and reconciles with Lorelai, moving back home, while the two also repair their Friday-night relationship with Richard and Emily. Rory resumes college and later takes charge of the Yale Daily News.
Rory and Logan reunite, though their trust is tested when she learns he slept with other women during their break. After a Life and Death Brigade stunt leaves Logan unconscious and badly injured, Rory stays close through his recovery and they make amends. Logan graduates from Yale, and Rory gives him a London-themed farewell party before he leaves for a year at his father’s company. Their separation closes the season’s college chapter without resolving what comes next for them.
As Lorelai and Sookie prepare for the wedding, Luke discovers that April Nardini is his daughter. He gets to know April but keeps Lorelai outside that part of his life, and April’s mother, Anna, is wary of her daughter becoming attached to Luke’s fiancée. Luke postpones the wedding, and Lorelai grows increasingly isolated from the plans they made together. At last she asks him to elope immediately; he says he needs more time, so she ends their engagement and spends the night with Christopher.
