Season 7

Season synopsis

Contains spoilers for this season and earlier seasons.

Lorelai begins the season having slept with Christopher immediately after breaking off her engagement to Luke. She and Christopher start dating, travel to Paris, and return married, but sharing Lorelai’s life in Stars Hollow proves harder than the trip. Luke, meanwhile, seeks a larger role in April’s life when Anna plans to move away, and Lorelai supports his custody case with a character reference. Christopher finds the letter and the couple’s disagreements deepen until they acknowledge that their marriage is over.

Rory enters her senior year at Yale and continues to edit the Yale Daily News while maintaining a long-distance relationship with Logan. He moves between London and New York, then risks his inheritance on a software venture that fails and leaves him facing a costly lawsuit. After finding a new job in San Francisco, Logan asks Rory to marry him at her grandparents’ graduation party. Rory declines because she wants to begin her own career without relocating for his plans, and Logan ends their relationship.

Rory graduates from Yale with no settled job, then receives a last-minute offer to report on Barack Obama’s presidential campaign for an online publication. The assignment begins in three days, so she gives up a planned month-long trip with Lorelai. Luke rallies Stars Hollow to give Rory a graduation send-off, bringing the Gilmores and their neighbors together before she leaves. Lorelai and Luke share a kiss at the party, and Lorelai and Rory finish the series with breakfast at Luke’s diner.
