Bronn pulls Jaime out of the river, and both recognize how badly Daenerys's forces outmatch them. Daenerys offers the captured soldiers a choice between submission and death. Randyll and Dickon Tarly refuse, and Drogon burns them despite Tyrion's objections. The other prisoners kneel. Back at Dragonstone, Jon touches Drogon without being attacked, and Jorah returns to Daenerys. Bran's warning about the advancing dead prompts a plan to capture a wight and show it to Cersei so she will accept a truce.
Tyrion and Davos secretly enter King's Landing. Bronn arranges a meeting between Tyrion and Jaime to discuss presenting evidence of the threat. Jaime has already told Cersei that Olenna killed Joffrey; Cersei now considers the proposed meeting and announces that she is pregnant. Davos finds Gendry working as a smith and brings him away. Gendry kills two guards who recognize Tyrion, then joins the return journey. At Winterfell, Arya follows Littlefinger and discovers the old letter in which Sansa urged Robb to submit to Joffrey.
Sam fails to persuade the maesters to act urgently on Bran's warning. Frustrated, he takes documents from the library and leaves Oldtown with Gilly and her son. Jon, Jorah and Gendry travel to Eastwatch, where Tormund is holding the Hound, Beric and Thoros. Their past grievances briefly divide them, but Jon insists that everyone present is alive and faces the same enemy. Davos remains at the castle. The others pass through the gate together and head beyond the Wall to capture their proof.
