Frasier

Season 7

Season synopsis

Contains spoilers for this season and earlier seasons.

Frasier spends the season pursuing romance and status while trying to keep his usual composure. He dates children's author Mia Preston before discovering that she resembles his late mother, Hester, a likeness Martin and Niles noticed first. Another new relationship with Regan Shaw leaves him anxious about making a good impression, and his efforts to appear more relaxed often create fresh embarrassments. At KACL, prank callers Carlos and the Chicken turn their jokes into a public humiliation when a sound montage makes it appear that Frasier and Roz are having sex.

Daphne and Donny move toward their wedding while Niles begins seeing Mel Karnofsky. A medicated Frasier accidentally reveals Niles’s longstanding love for Daphne, who starts questioning her own feelings. In therapy after a disastrous bridal shower, she realizes she had dressed for an evening alone with Niles. Before she can tell him she loves him, however, he returns from a retreat announcing that he has married Mel.

At Daphne and Donny’s wedding weekend, Frasier tells Niles that Daphne may return his feelings. Niles and Daphne finally confess their love and kiss, but Daphne initially insists they cannot abandon their commitments to Mel and Donny. On the wedding day she leaves Donny at the altar and finds Niles in Martin’s Winnebago, asking him to go on a date with her. The two flee together, leaving Niles’s marriage to Mel and Daphne’s engagement to Donny behind. Their decision resolves the long-running romance, but the season ends before showing how they will handle its consequences.
