Season 6

Season synopsis

Contains spoilers for this season and earlier seasons.

At the start of the season, Frasier has lost his KACL job and tries to pass the time while looking for work, moving through denial, anger, bargaining and depression before he is rehired. Back at the station, his professional confidence and romantic confidence both wobble. He dates Faye Moskowitz while secretly beginning a second courtship with Cassandra Stone, then accidentally calls Faye by Cassandra’s name. His rivalry with Niles continues at home, but their disputes also expose how much Niles still cares for Daphne.

Niles hires Donny Douglas to handle his increasingly expensive divorce from Maris. Her lawyers threaten to expose his feelings for Daphne, leaving Frasier unwilling to lie under oath. Donny instead discovers that Maris’s family fortune comes from urinal cakes; she agrees to settle to keep that secret. Niles is then dismayed to find Donny dating Daphne and invites Roz, Donny’s ex, to his lakeside cottage hoping to reunite them. At KACL, Frasier recommends Dr. Nora, then discovers that her flattering manner hides abusive advice to callers.

Daphne’s visions begin to unsettle her as she prepares to marry Donny. One predicts that a man will interrupt the wedding to declare his love; Frasier dismisses it as stress, and Niles supports that explanation even though he recognizes the description may point to him. Daphne accepts Donny’s proposal, then sees a dragon in a second vision, which Niles receives as a statue from Roz. The season ends with several relationships breaking at once: Faye leaves after meeting Cassandra, Niles ends his fling with Kit, and Martin also becomes single.
