Season 4

Season synopsis

Contains spoilers for this season and earlier seasons.

The season opens with Daphne's former fiancé Clive visiting and the household improvising a false set of marriages to disguise who is living with whom. Martin begins a relationship with Sherry, whose blunt humour and easy rapport with him irritate Frasier and Niles. At KACL, Roz seeks a chance to host her own programme, while Frasier's attempts to control the station's radio drama “Ham Radio” collapse into a cascade of on-air mishaps. The season also follows Niles as his marriage to Maris reaches its end: after she files for divorce, he wavers, then signs the papers and accepts that the marriage is over. The family's daily rhythms shift as Sherry spends more time at Frasier's apartment, and Daphne resents her interference with Martin's care.

Frasier's own dating efforts culminate in “Odd Man Out.” On Roz's birthday, he finds that his family and friends have plans without him, then misreads a wrong-number message from Laura as a possible opening. Daphne encourages him to follow the possible connection to the airport, where he learns that Laura is happily married. The disappointment leaves Frasier still single as the season closes, after he has spent much of the year feeling that everyone around him has found someone.
