The Principle of Restricted Choice

Contains spoilers for this episode and earlier episodes.

Ray checks that Maurice's death has been recorded as an accident, but Nikki wants him to settle the stamp dispute with Emmit. Ray distracts his brother with an apology while Nikki enters the house. The brothers briefly make peace, but she finds a donkey portrait where the stamp should be. Taking it as an insult, she marks the picture and leaves a used tampon in Emmit's desk.

Emmit explains to Sy that he moved the stamp because its frame was damaged. The damage Nikki leaves convinces him that Ray's reconciliation was another trick. Sy promises to handle Ray and confronts him at a restaurant, declaring that Emmit's financial help is over. He then deliberately rams Ray's Corvette with his Hummer, also striking another parked car as he drives away.

Gloria identifies Ennis as the former science-fiction writer Thaddeus Mobley and follows Maurice's trail through a gas-station robbery and a torn phone-book page. Emmit and Sy ask their lawyer Irv Blumkin to investigate Varga. An online search exposes Irv to surveillance, and Yuri subsequently throws him from a parking garage roof. Varga parks a truck on company property and later arrives with men and boxes, announcing that he is taking over an unused office wing without waiting for Emmit or Sy to agree.
