Mo-yeon proceeds with the emergency operation while Shi-jin and his soldiers hold off the patient's bodyguards. Her team discovers that the medical history they received is incomplete, complicating an already tense procedure. The surgery succeeds, but Shi-jin is detained for disobeying orders before the patient wakes. Mo-yeon visits him and apologizes, while he refuses to let her take responsibility for his choice. Dae-young must leave Uruk despite the crisis. At the airport, he encounters Myung-joo arriving for her posting. She angrily challenges his continued avoidance, and their farewell briefly breaks through the reserve he has maintained.
The recovered patient thanks Mo-yeon and Shi-jin with a card promising help in return. A later outing takes the pair to a memorial for a fallen soldier from Shi-jin's past. His release does not spare him disciplinary consequences, including reduced pay and a lost promotion opportunity. Mo-yeon tries to intervene, but he explains that his decision concerned the honour and duties of his unit, rather than her alone. Their argument leaves her hurt. They meet again over a bottle of wine, apologize, and talk about the film they never watched together. Shi-jin moves closer and kisses her. His flirtation leaves their earlier disagreement behind for the moment.
