Mo-yeon's team settles into the military base in Uruk, with Shi-jin responsible for their security. Their reunion is awkward, and she notices the secrets and rules that made their relationship difficult in Seoul. Ki-bum introduces himself again, now serving as a soldier. Myung-joo prepares to join the deployment despite her father's objections, while memories explain how her arrangement with Dae-young to pose as a couple first began. Shi-jin's attempt to tease Mo-yeon goes badly when she crosses into a restricted area to speak with local children. He tells her she has stepped on a landmine, frightening her before revealing the trick.
He apologizes after she becomes angry. A trip into town introduces her to relief nurse Ye-hwa, and Shi-jin then takes Mo-yeon by boat to a secluded beach with a wrecked ship and a story about returning. Back at the base, a young boy collapses and needs the medical team's attention. A separate emergency soon places them under far greater pressure: an important Arab patient arrives unconscious with armed bodyguards. Mo-yeon believes he needs immediate surgery, but his guards insist on waiting for his own physician. Shi-jin asks whether she can save him, then orders his men to protect the doctors as both sides raise their weapons.
