Ben's funeral leaves Karen grieving and blaming herself, but Doris tells her that Ben chose the work he believed in. Fisk's organisation is also coming apart. Owlsley admits that he and Gao poisoned Vanessa and demands money in exchange for keeping Detective Hoffman hidden. Fisk kills him and orders his men to find the detective, destroying the arrangement that had kept Hoffman's testimony out of official hands. The investigators now have a chance to turn that vulnerability into evidence.
Foggy approaches Matt with files Marci obtained from Landman and Zack. Their reconciliation brings the legal and masked investigations together, and they reach Hoffman before Fisk's men can kill him. His testimony allows the authorities to arrest people throughout the network, including Fisk. Vanessa refuses to leave without him, and he proposes before being taken away.
Armed attackers free Fisk from custody. Matt collects the protective suit from Melvin and returns to the streets in red. Their fight ends with Matt defeating him and leaving him for Sergeant Brett Mahoney to arrest. Vanessa departs alone, and the newspapers give the masked man the name Daredevil. Matt, Foggy and Karen restore the office sign and prepare to work together again, while Karen reminds Matt that imprisoning Fisk cannot bring back the people they lost.
