Spike and Faye stop a hijacking aboard a shuttle to Venus, catching the attention of passenger Roco Bonnaro. Impressed by Spike's fighting, Roco follows him and asks for lessons. Spike reluctantly shows him how to move with an opponent instead of meeting force with force. Their time together is interrupted when men begin looking for Roco, who gives Spike a package to keep safe. Back aboard the Bebop, Jet identifies its contents as Grey Ash, a rare plant worth a great deal of money. He also finds that Roco is wanted for stealing it from the gang now hunting him.
Spike looks for Roco and instead meets his sister Stella, who has lost her sight to the spores that affect people living on Venus. The plant can provide treatment for her condition, explaining why Roco risked stealing it. Spike returns to their meeting place willing to help rather than arrest him, but the gang arrives and opens fire. Faye and Jet join the fight, and Roco briefly uses the move Spike taught him to defeat an attacker. Another gunman shoots him before he can escape. The gang is stopped, and Stella receives her treatment, but Roco cannot see the result. Spike visits her in hospital, where his silence tells her that her brother will not be coming back.
