A lucrative bounty sends Spike and Jet after Abdul Hakim, a thief who has changed his appearance after stealing from a laboratory. They know he is carrying a case, but its contents become the source of repeated confusion. Another thief takes the case from Hakim and tries to sell what he finds inside: a Welsh corgi. Spike follows the trail to a pet shop, expecting a criminal rather than a dog, and misses his chance to identify Hakim immediately. The laboratory's own search team also wants the animal back, adding another set of pursuers to the chase through the streets.
The corgi, Ein, repeatedly slips free while the humans fight over him. The researchers broadcast a signal meant to draw him out, which attracts other dogs as well and turns the pursuit into a moving traffic disaster. Hakim steals a car and tries to escape with Ein, but the dog works the controls and creates a chance to get away. Spike chooses to rescue Ein from a dangerous fall instead of securing the bounty. Hakim ends up in police custody, so the Bebop receives no payday. Jet welcomes the dog aboard, while Spike complains about having acquired a pet and neither hunter understands the full value of their new passenger.
