Faye leaves the Bebop with its money and coolant, prompting Jet to look for her while Ed searches for an electronic trace. A message using the name Julia turns Spike's attention toward Callisto instead. Jet warns that a common name is too little to justify abandoning their work, but the argument drives Spike away as well. On the frozen moon, Faye visits the Blue Crow and meets Gren, its saxophone player. Gren offers shelter after helping her with some men in the street, and she admits that leaving a group first can seem safer than waiting to be abandoned.
Spike's enquiries bring him into contact with men who mistake him for Vicious. His anger at that confusion turns the encounter violent, and he learns that Gren is connected to a drug deal involving his former comrade. Jet follows Faye's trail separately and discovers that Gren has a bounty, but hesitates to call the partner he has just quarrelled with. At Gren's apartment, Faye hears Vicious on the answering machine and realises her host has concealed an important connection. Spike finally finds Vicious in the snow and asks about Julia. Lin, who once knew Spike but now protects Vicious, steps between them and fires. Spike falls as Vicious and Lin depart, leaving both searches suspended at their most dangerous point.
