The sisters grieve Chris while Leo becomes increasingly consumed by visions and the new power contacting him. Paige saves Magic School from closure and becomes its headmistress; Phoebe resumes her premonitions, and Paige grows close to federal agent Kyle Brody. Leo eventually accepts the Avatars’ offer and joins them. They promise a world without demons, and the sisters cautiously agree after seeing their vision, while Kyle remains suspicious. Zankou, a powerful demon released to counter the Avatars, manipulates the conflict and recruits Kyle to help sabotage their transformation.
The Avatars remake the world as a peaceful Utopia, but Leo discovers they control life and death to preserve it. He joins Zankou in undoing the change; the sisters awaken, help brew an Avatar-killing potion, and confront the group. The Avatars reverse the transformation and restore those killed during it, including Leo, who loses his Avatar powers but remains an Elder. Kyle cannot be restored to ordinary life, but the Elders make him a Whitelighter and he says goodbye to Paige. Later, the Elders test Leo’s loyalties. He chooses Piper over his celestial position and becomes mortal, eventually taking charge of Magic School. Zankou attacks the manor to seize the Book of Shadows and the Nexus beneath it. The sisters vanquish him, stage their own deaths and adopt new appearances to escape public scrutiny.
