Season synopsis
Contains spoilers for this season and earlier seasons.
Holt is working in NYPD Public Affairs as the Nine-Nine cycles through captains, first Seth Dozerman and then the Vulture. Jake and Amy agree to pursue a real relationship after their previous season's kiss and try to balance dating with their partnership. Holt and Gina eventually return from Public Affairs to rejoin the squad. Charles begins a relationship with art curator Genevieve, and Terry's family grows with the birth of his daughter Ava.
Rosa starts dating Adrian Pimento, a detective returning after twelve years undercover with mob boss Jimmy Figgis. Their romance moves quickly toward an engagement, but Pimento disappears when Figgis marks him for death. The squad investigates Figgis's network and learns the danger reaches inside the FBI. Amy goes undercover in a Texas prison to identify the compromised informant; the investigation exposes Bob Annderson, a former partner of Holt secretly working for Figgis. The team captures him and uses his information against the mob operation.
The Nine-Nine obtains evidence that leads to the arrest of dozens of Figgis's men, but Figgis remains free and Pimento is still in hiding. Amy and Jake decide to move in together. Then Figgis calls Jake and threatens both him and Holt for dismantling the organization. The season ends after Jake and Holt enter witness protection in Coral Palms, Florida, under the names Greg and Larry. Figgis is still free, and the two detectives must conceal their identities while the rest of the squad returns to work.
