When cleaning fails, Walt soaks himself and his car in fuel and invents a story about a pump malfunction. Skyler doubts his explanation and moves the family to a hotel while the flooring is replaced. Walt secretly asks Saul and Kuby to find Jesse. Saul suggests killing Jesse, but Walt refuses. Skyler sees Walt meeting Saul and presses him for the truth. He admits Jesse tried to burn the house, then says he is no longer worried because Jesse backed down.
Skyler sees Jesse as a danger and asks Walt to kill him. A flashback shows Hank persuading Jesse to work with the DEA before Walt arrives. Hank and Gomez record Jesse’s account, but the story alone is not enough to build a case. Walt leaves Jesse a message asking to meet and discuss Brock’s poisoning. Hank pushes Jesse to wear a wire, privately accepting he might die on camera. Jesse spots a passerby and thinks he is an assassin, so he abandons the meeting and calls Walt from a pay phone. He says he will get Walt where he really lives. Jesse tells Hank he has another plan; Walt calls Todd to request a hit.
