Skinny Pete tells Jesse that a couple robbed him, and Jesse gets their address and goes to confront them. Inside their rundown house, he finds their neglected young son and tries to care for him while he waits. When the couple returns, Jesse demands his money and the meth they stole. They hand back only part of the drugs and point to an ATM they have taken from a convenience store. The husband, Spooge, cannot get it open. Jesse is distracted playing with the boy when Spooge’s partner knocks him unconscious and takes his gun and drugs. Jesse wakes to find Spooge still struggling with the machine.
Spooge’s partner tips the ATM over, crushing him, then takes the drugs and gets high. Jesse recovers his gun, grabs what cash comes loose when the machine opens, and calls the police. Before leaving, he brings the boy outside and tells him not to go back in. Elsewhere, Walt returns to teaching after chemotherapy and talks to his class about an inventor who received little reward while a company profited from his work. Skyler, still believing Gretchen Schwartz is paying Walt’s medical bills, invites Gretchen over to thank her. When Walt arrives, Gretchen quickly leaves. Walt follows her and argues about their shared past and the money. He later tells Skyler that the Schwartzes have gone broke and gives her a false account of the meeting.
