Black and Blue

Contains spoilers for Better Call Saul season 6 episode 5 and earlier episodes.

Kim cannot sleep after Mike tells her that Lalo may still be alive. She checks the apartment windows and blocks the door with a chair, then hides her fear from Jimmy when he wakes. Howard has begun to recognize the pattern in Jimmy’s sabotage and challenges him to settle their conflict in a boxing ring. Howard wins the bout, but the match gives him no answer about why Jimmy keeps targeting him. Jimmy also brings Francesca back to help at his new office. Their legal work and the attack on Howard’s reputation continue side by side, with Kim pushing past her unease to keep their plan moving.

Lalo travels to Germany and finds Margarethe Ziegler, the widow of the engineer who built Gus’s underground lab. He breaks into her house, finds a commemorative slide-rule sculpture and notes its maker’s label before escaping unseen. In Albuquerque, Gus grows increasingly cautious, while Mike maintains surveillance around his home and the people close to him. The episode closes with Jimmy and Kim still intent on ruining Howard, and Lalo quietly following a lead that could expose the secret construction project. Howard’s boxing challenge changes nothing between the lawyers; the larger danger remains unseen by him. Mike and Gus inspect the construction site, where Gus hides a handgun in an excavator’s track.
